The Living Nativity, a reenactment of the birth of Jesus Christ, has become a tradition for many Rancho Cucamonga Families.
A 15-minute theatrical performance by live actors and music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with hot chocolate and homemade cookies sets the tone for the holiday season.
“What a great opportunity to tie people together at Christmas time, giving a quiet moment away from the hustle and bustle…There's no greater time for unity than when singing words of peace, love and joy!” stated Afton Snyder
Free Living Nativity
For the 8th consecutive year, the Rancho Cucamonga Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be offering a free Living Nativity to the community. This year, their event will be held December 8 – 10, from 6:30-8:30 PM each night, on their meetinghouse grounds located at 6829 Etiwanda Avenue.
What began as a small reenactment of the birth of Jesus Christ, has grown to an outdoor spectacle visited by thousands of people each year. Guests are invited to venture down an authentic representation of the streets of Bethlehem, play with live animals in the shepherd’s field, and sip hot chocolate and eat homemade cookies while being entertained by wandering carolers.
Three times each evening, at 6:30, 7:15, and 8:00 PM, a 15-minute theatrical performance by live actors and music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, portray the momentous occasion of the Savior Jesus Christ’s birth. At the end of each performance, there is an audience sing-along of “Silent Night.” “What a great opportunity to tie people together at Christmas time, giving a quiet moment away from the hustle and bustle…There's no greater time for unity than when singing words of peace, love and joy!” stated Afton Snyder, a former Music Chairperson for the event. Grandstand and handicap seating is available to view the production.
