JP Boyd, a member of Boy Scout Troop 76, lead 25 volunteers over the course of four days to beautify Beryl Park West. His project included painting and restoring a park bathroom and gazebo. It saved the city several hundred dollars in labor and also taught the boys involved valuable skills.
Becky Boyd said, “The city has many projects available for any other scouts who are interested.” She appreciated the city park reps who took the extra time to teach communication skills such as teaching the boys to make phone calls to communicate rather than texting.
To complete the project, the volunteers took the first day to sand and caulk damaged wood and the second day to do the primer. The third day was the big event when most of the volunteers showed up to help. That is the day they painted everything. The fourth day was to do touch up painting once everything had dried.
Jp contacted Rancho Cucamonga city parks and they supplied all of the materials. It is always a great experience when you give back to the community.
This project is one of the last things JP needs to earn his Eagle Scout Award. You don’t just earn Eagle Scout, you’re always going to be an Eagle Scout, and it’s going to help you with everything you do in life.
