First Food Drive of the Year A Success

Community Food Drive Time and Locations
Food Drive Map 2019

A special shout out to Stater Bros. for donating the bags for our citywide food drive which took place Saturday, March 9, 2019. Through the community connection services we are able to help provide food staples to fight hunger for those facing hardships.

Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and Community Connection Services sorted through and organized food donations from citizens in the northeastern part of Rancho Cucamonga and collected almost 500 bags of groceries filling the pantry shelves. Whether you donate the food, pass out bags or collect the bags full of food and deliver it to the RC Family Resource Center you are a part of helping those in need.

Community Connection Services is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides services and support to individuals and families in need.

We divide the city into thirds and collect food in March, July and November. This helps to keep the pantry stocked year round. Any service clubs, church groups or anyone that would like to help participate can join in this years’ food drives are welcome to join us. When you see the bags on your doorstep, please take the time to fill them and donate what you can. Every contribution makes a difference.

The greatest need is for ready to eat food or food that requires minimal preparation. It is also important that donated food should be:

1) recently purchased,

2) unopened and

3) non-perishable.

Below are examples of foods that do the most good and that we like to have in our pantry.

Ready-to-eat: granola bars, pudding cups, popcorn, fruit roll-ups, etc.

Canned goods: soup, vegetables, fruits, chili, chicken, tuna, spam, juices, etc.

Boxed goods: crackers, cereal, instant potatoes, macaroni & cheese, etc,

Plastic-bottled goods: peanut butter, oil, jam, dressing, sauces, etc.
