Born June 12, 2002 Gordon started his scouting career at age 11, shortly after earning his Arrow of Light award and moving on from the Cub Scout program. He was blessed with great scout leaders and right away began earning merit badges and scout ranks on his path to Eagle Scout. One week after turning 12 in June of 2014, he left home with his scout troop to Bear Lake, Utah to attend his first Boy Scout Camp. Baden Powell is quoted as saying, “The open-air is the real objective of scouting and the key to its success.” Nature is a great teacher, an inspiration, and a source of lifelong experiences. After all, "Scouting" is 75% "outing” This has always been true throughout Gordon’s road to eagle. On that first Boy Scout Camp he earned 9 Merit Badges and will always remember the camp as his first and best. He loves the outdoors and has always enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing whenever possible. The camps and outdoor experiences have enriched Gordon’s life and have highlighted his path to Eagle Scout. In fact, he loved the Wilderness Survival merit badge so much, that he repeated the merit badge in his last Boy Scout camp last year!
In addition to earning merit badges and having fun in the great outdoors, Gordon has also matured and developed the key attributes of the scouting program. We can say with full confidence that Gordon is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. He is an example to his friends and those around him, and an inspiration to the younger scouts that are striving to earn their own Eagle Scout rank. He has served in many leadership roles as a Boy Scout, including his current role as Junior Assistant Scout Master. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and many hours developing an array of life skills to become an Eagle Scout; but most of all it requires strong character and service to others. We know that Gordon will continue forward with faith, having earned the Eagle Scout Rank, and will bless the lives of others through service and example. Congratulations Gordon Matthew Grigg.
