Ivan Lee Tran was born on March 15, 2002 in San Dimas, California. His father is Quoc T. Tran. His mother is Judith V. Tran. He is the third and youngest in the family. His two older sisters are Celia and Sydney Tran. For pets, he has a gold fish and a bearded dragon named Fluffy.
As a young boy, he loved building water dams in our backyard under the shade of our orange tree. He spent many hours digging, tying ropes, gathering rocks, small sticks, branches and leaves to build them. He used his imagination, his engineering abilities and lots of dirt and water. He also enjoyed his legos and doing origami. Presently, he is a member and the lead engineer of the STEM club Go-kart team. He loves cars, and he enjoys finding out how all their parts work. His plans are to attend Cal Poly SLO or Pomona and study Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
Ivan is a natural artist, musician and athlete. He plays the trumpet and the tuba for RCMC. He was selected to be first chair for the trumpet section. This summer, we bought his beloved Bach Stradivarius trumpet; he paid half of it with his own savings. As for sports, he was chosen first string right tackle for RCHS football team as a freshman. This was his very first time playing the sport. He gave it up for his music; he missed it a lot. In Track and Field, he competes in the shot-put and discus. And he has also participated in martial arts and wrestling.
His artistic and engineering abilities came in handy for his Eagle Project. With the help of wonderful leaders, counselors, church members, fellow-scouts, friends, and his mom, he designed, built, painted, artistically embellished and installed 14 new wooden shelves for the band room walk-in closet. These shelves store the oversize and heavy instruments. During the process - he found his voice! He grew in his artistic, leadership and management skills. His confidence soared. He even decided to artistically paint his 2001 Toyota Corolla with a bold universe look. We are so proud that he is a trail blazer, and the very first one on both sides of the family to earn the Eagle Scout Award. Awesome job Ivan! Congratulations!!
In closing, Ivan is a quick learner, a loyal friend, and a child of God. With the help of the Lord and many amazing people along his path, he has been able to overcome major loses and navigate through rough waters in his youth. He could not have done it without all your help, guidance, love and support. We love you! We thank you! God bless you all!
