Jacob Paul (“JP”) Boyd was born in Logan, Utah in 2003 to Jake and Becky Boyd. He is the eldest of five children and has been an exemplary older brother and mentor to his younger siblings. He learned at an early age how to find the joy in service both in his household and the world. JP is a driven, motivated, talented young man with a great sense of humor.

As a consummate overachiever, JP has excelled academically, athletically and spiritually over the course of his life thus far. Academically, he has never fallen short of straight A’s and oftentimes finds himself finished with all of his coursework long before it is due or presented for that matter. He is a voracious reader who consumes hundreds of pages per week. Athletically, he has participated in 12 seasons of soccer, 10 seasons of basketball and 6 seasons of football. He has also been involved in numerous martial arts, to include Karate, Muai Thai and Wrestling. He is currently part of the Los Osos High School Football and Wrestling teams. Spiritually, JP finished the Book of Mormon in its entirety when he was only 10 years old. He has since reread it several times and has now also completed the New Testament of the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price numerous times. He is often a caring voice of reason and abides by the principals and precepts he has learned as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Scouting has been tremendous in helping JP to focus his time and talents. He has learned how to survive in and respect the outdoors, treat wounds and injuries, handle and operate firearms, understand government, be a good citizen and most importantly to serve his fellow man. JP participated in numerous service projects over the last five years culminating in his own Eagle Project in which he contributed to the betterment of the community by rallying a group of people to work in a restoration project at a local park.

Through scouting among other things, JP has gained a genuine appreciation for the love and service of his fellow man. Upon graduating high school, he plans to serve an honorable mission, then serve in the military and then further his education insomuch that he can one day serve as a neuro-surgeon. This has been his plan since he was 10 years old and with the commitment he has shown, there is no doubt that he will achieve his objectives.
