Influential Adult in your life and why:
My parents, they've always supported me and my decisions. And I am eternally grateful I have been blessed with the gospel because of them and their righteous decisions. The gospel has shaped me to who I am today, the choices I have made and will make.
What is a scripture that you love?
Jacob 4:11
11 Wherefore, beloved brethren, be areconciled unto him through the batonement of Christ, his cOnly Begotten Son, and ye may obtain a dresurrection, according to the epower of the resurrection which is in Christ, and be presented as the ffirst-fruits of Christ unto God, having faith, and obtained a good hope of glory in him before he manifesteth himself in the flesh.
What is your best advise to those who are preparing to serve a mission?
Have faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to strengthen you through times of struggles and fears. Always rely on them for guidance. Put your confidence in them.
How is the mission different that you thought it would be?
I knew a mission would change you if you are willing, but I wasn't realizing what it took for that to occur. On the mission, you are, at many times, thrown out of your comfort zone. In time, letting go of all worldly things to completely serve others with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. It is all dependent on your willingness to let go of all the things holding you back from submitting yourself to God's will and immersing yourself in the service of others. You can choose to not change or you can allow yourself to become a greater disciple of Christ. I guess I didn't realize how exactly a missionary would become their biggest convert until now.
How has the Covid19 affected your mission experience?
When it first came out we were told to not shake anyone's hands or hug anyone, which was difficult since that is so common of us as missionaries. Then a couple weeks later we had to stay inside our homes all day for about a month in order to protect others since we would always be in contact with people . It led to us relying on technology, our smartphones, as a way of teaching people. And then the virus has grown to the point of all non-native missionaries returning to their home countries and to be in self isolation for two weeks. Despite the many difficulties, it has allowed me to see that Heavenly Father has a plan for us and is mindful of all of us.
