The YW in San Sevaine Ward followed the yellow brick road that leads to the temple at their YW in Excellence program on November15th. The theme for the night was from The Wizard of Oz- There is no place like home. Each girl was presented with their own crown from Glenda the good witch and they took pictures on the yellow brick road that leads to the temple with a rainbow of balloons over it. Shauna Gardner, YW counselor over personal progress said, “Personal progress teaches us how to have our heavenly home with us always.“
Highlights of the evening included welcoming Hailey Anderson, a new beehive, and congratulating Brett Fox and Jenna Hampton for earning their Young Womanhood Recognition. This award recognizes them for their worthiness and for completing all the Personal Progress requirements.
They talked about their Journey on their yellow brick road here on earth. While clinging to the iron rod and with help from family, friends and people along the way, they can accomplish their quest to find a heart, a brain and courage. They also talked about how our heavenly home can be with us along our journey through this strange land.
There were two special musical numbers. All of the San Sevaine YW sang “If The Savior Stood Beside Me”. The 2nd was a violin and cello duet of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” performed by Julia and Jonas Matsuzaki. It was a great night!
